Wilco Poultry and Meat Company (WilcoPM) is a subsidiary of Wilco farm which was founded in 1992 by Mr. William Boutros and family. WilcoPM poultry is expanding its production by investing in a new Poultry Slaughterhouse & Processing Plant in Chekka. The aim is to increase the production capacity to meet the increasing market demand for chicken ready-food products, as well as to acquire a larger market share and to improve the processing technology to provide consumers with the highest quality products.
The expansion entails the construction and operation of a new poultry slaughterhouse, processing lines and rendering plant on the coastal region of the North Lebanon Governorate (Mohafaza), in the
Chekka industrial zone, Batroun Caza, Lebanon. The new facility will be ready for operation beginning of 2016.
WilcoPM wanted to assess the economic feasibility of the project and its macro impact on the Lebanese socioeconomy as well on the environment. In this context, WilcoPM commissioned Bacha to perform specific studies.
