The proposed project involves the construction and operation of a cow farm, a meat processing facility, and a dairy production facility in the village of Khartoum, Caza of Saida, Governorate of South Lebanon. The project consists of 5 hangars spread over an area of 40,000 sqm, to serve the purposes of housing/milking the cows, storage area for raw materials and final products, and production areas for meat and dairy. Mokbel Foods, the project developer, was requested by the Lebanese Ministry of Environment to conduct an Initial Environmental Examination and submit it for their review, as a prerequisite to obtaining the construction permit. Therefore, Mokbel Foods retained ELBACHA to conduct this IEE study.

Performed assignment:

Completion of an Initial Environmental Examination for the project, structured to meet the requirements set in Annex 6 of decree 8633 dated 7/7/2012 (Environmental Impact Assessment Fundamentals) and decision no. 260/1 dated 12/6/2015 (Procedure for the review of IEE reports), aiming at implementing the environmental management plan to decrease its impacts and abate pollution.
