Dmoul AGRI Project

Dmoul AGRI Project

Project Ref: Expanding Dmoul Farm Practices

Recognizing the diminishing of government supports combined with globalization and increased competition are initiating farm landowners in Lebanon to consider alternative business strategies to improve their productivity and sustainability.

Owners of 1,250,000 SQM of agricultural land located in the South of Lebanon are considering to improve their current operations consisting mainly of agricultural management to move into vertical integration at all levels of citrus value chain from down to up-streams.

Bacha assisted shareholders to set the strategy and to assess its feasibility from financial and technical stand points taking into account governmental supports provided for such projects.

To shape this strategy into a successful agriculture business we helped owners:

  • Organizing their properties into one legal entity that will acquire the orchard lands, assemble needed resources, improve the current infrastructure and operations in response to the market opportunity
  • Improving their farm current practices by introducing intercropping of the citrus orchards with other crops, increase yields and quality resulting in improved prices of grown products
  • Expanding post-harvest infrastructure and practices to reduce post-harvest loss rate
  • Designing a facility for storage, grading and packing of fresh citrus produce adjacent to the citrus orchard, with the intention of allowing exports to new and traditional markets, thus aiding the local economy.
